Regardless of whether you're looking for a one-way ticket to El Portillo / Samana airport. Really strange question, but what are the footpaths and poolside tiles like around El Portillo? We've visited some Caribbean resorts where they have a habit of painting the footpaths in a thick tar / gloss type paint which makes them really slippery (especially when wearing rubber sandals or when it rains!), or they put smooth tiles around the pools.
